5 Tips to Supercharge Your Productivity

In an age with modern conveniences and more technology than we know what to do with productivity is still key. Getting more done in the same amount of time is a lofty goal with great potential benefit for your pocketbook and overall lifestyle. Here our 5 of our favorite tips to get the most out of your day. 1. Turn off the Notifications. Sometimes it’s important, but most of the time notifications be they emails, phone calls, texts, or replies on social media are just distractions. Unless they pertain to the job at hand, just turn them off for the time being. 2. Do Short Tasks First. This is especially true if a task will only take a few minutes. Clear out those short, annoying tasks first, so the rest of your time is available to focus on the longer more involved tasks. 3. Make A Schedule (and stick to it). Making a schedule is one thing, actually using it is another. A schedule that isn’t used does no good. Schedule out time for all of the things you must do, this includes things like lunch. Not eating doesn’t make you more productive – it makes you hungry. 4. Learn to prioritize. Learn what must be done immediately and what can wait. Not everything is an emergency all the time. 5. Take Care Of Yourself. If you don’t feel your best, how can you work at your best speed? Getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and being active all will help improve your quality of life and your productivity levels. You will be healthier, and miss less time due to illness. These are some of our favorite productivity tips. What are yours? Share your productivity tips in the comments!

Google Search Gets New Features: From voice control (Chrome Only) to video game recommendations, transit updates, and reminders. To activate the voice control users must say “Okay Google, *insert question here*”, instead of a page of results users will recieve a spoken answer to their question.
Facebook Rolls Out App Timeline Sections

On Tuesday, Facebook rolled out the application modules for Timeline that it had first announced earlier this year. The modules give apps new real estate on users Timelines in a bid to increase app user engagement. Some apps are using their new sections for things like music and movie ratings, or to show the usage of the app. To reinforce their best practices for implementing sections Facebook has created a blog complete with examples. The three main goals for developers of the new app sections are: Give people a way to add the new custom app section to their Timeline Use the right template for the section (map, lists, or galleries) Focus on quality and completeness before submitting for approval In addition to the new custom app sections, Facebook has also improved the insights available for apps. The new analytics will include referral clicks, and impressions on users’ Timelines. Have you noticed any new sections on your Timeline from apps you use? What are your thoughts on the latest change in the ever changing world of the Facebook Timeline? Tell us about it in the comments.

6 Signs Your Site Needs an Update

When was the last time your site was updated? Not with fresh content (though that’s important too), but the actual look, feel, and function of your site? While some things do get better with age, websites are NOT one of those things. For the sake of your brand here are 6 signs your site is in need of an update. If your site has any of these signs, especially if it has more than one or even ALL of these signs, don’t wait. We’re here to help. 1. Your site is entirely done in Flash. If your site is a Flash site, it might be high in interactivity but it’s low in SEO, and mobile? Heh. Forget about it. iOS doesn’t support flash, and Android removed the Flash app from their app marketplace. 2. Underconstruction Gifs. If your site still features any of these classics anywhere on it’s pages your it’s time for an update. 3. Your Site is Not Responsive or Optimized for Mobile. Can visitors even view your website on their mobile phones or tablets? Can they click on links, and use the site just as well as they could in a browser? 4. Your Site Does Not Work in All Browsers (especially the latest editions of those browsers). Browsers do in fact get upgrades. These add new features and layers of security. While many older websites conventions and features are still supported not all are. 5. High Bounce Rate. Do visitors view your front page and immediately leave? Time to figure out why and fix it. It’s time to get more sales & conversions! 6. Your Site Does Not Reflect Your Brand Image. Take a good hard look at your site, and those of your competitors. Does your site truly reflect what your brand portrays? Does it match your presence on social media networks, or offline? Outdated sites have no place in the modern business world. Your brand deserves better! If your site needs help, don’t worry, LOLSMG would be happy to work with you to design a site you can be proud of and that will bring your brand to the next level. Together we can put an end to outdated websites.

App.net Is Now Free To Join – No Invite Needed!

App.net (aka ADN) was originally launched as a paid competitor to Twitter. The service then went to a freemium model, with paid members receiving invites to invite guests. However, now the service is open to anyone with an App.net Passport account. The App.net Passport allows the creation of an account and profile, and follow other members, but does not allow posting. To post users must use a third party application. This is in keeping with App.net’s focus on the app developers and moving away from Twitter’s increasingly restrictive API requirements. Free ADN users will still be subject to the free tier restrictions. Free tier accounts will receive 500mb of storage with a maximum file upload size of 10mb, and are limited to following 40 users. App.net has stated that the open user registration is an experiment as such it may not be available for long. If you are interested in joining App.net it may be wise to get your account now while you can. However, is it worth it? Social media networks are only as good as their community after all. What is ADN’s community like? Due to ADN’s focus on app development it is popular with developers who do enjoy the platform. Will it be as popular with non developers? Tell us what you think in the comments. Have you tried ADN? Will it ever rival Twitter?
